Climate protection subconcept for mobility in the Neu-Ulm district

Inventory and potential analysis as well as participatory development of an action plan

In 2013, the district of Neu-Ulm published an integrated climate protection concept with the intention of initiating an energy turnaround that will in future produce energy at affordable prices, conserve resources, be as regional as possible, be environmentally compatible and be in harmony with climate protection. An important part of achieving this objective is the decision to draw up and implement a mobility concept.

In cooperation with other planners and mobility experts, PSU undertook the following work steps in preparing the climate protection sub-concept for the Neu-Ulm district:

  • Analysis of mobility behavior, transport and mobility structures, and preparation of energy and CO2 balance sheet
  • Forecast of CO2 emissions
  • Potential analysis for the establishment of realistic emission targets
  • Development of an action plan with 30 measures and an associated controlling system for successive and consistent implementation of the climate targets

Based on the results of the analyses and forecasts, the district of Neu-Ulm has set itself a realistic emissions target of a 50 percent reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030, based on 2010 levels.
